Computer Classes for Adults! Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has
announced the schedule for adult computer classes for March. Nine classes will be offered, but space is limited so
registration is necessary, starting March 2nd. Register at the
Circulation Desk or call (419) 447-3751
** The Library is now charging $1 per class for copy costs. The $1
fee must be paid at the Circulation Desk by the time of class.
“Beginning Word”
will be presented on Tuesday, March 30 from 10:00 am to Noon.
Students will learn the basics of word processing, using Microsoft
Word. Knowledge of how to use a mouse and keyboard is required.
“Mouse 101”
will be presented Tuesday, March 2nd from 10:30 to 11:39 am and will
teach students how to use the mouse. Students will distinguish
between left and right clicking, double clicking, and moving the
mouse around.
“Beginning Excel”
will be offered for On Tuesday, March 9th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm
for students interested in learning the spreadsheet program.
Students will learn how to set up an address book and create a
simple checkbook.
“Basic Computing”
will be taught Tuesday, March 9th from 10:00 - 11:30 am . Basic
Computing is designed for users who are just learning to use a
computer. Students will learn the basic parts of the computer and
the keyboard, as well as using the start button and navigating the
desktop. Knowledge of how to use the mouse is helpful.
“Intermediate Word”
will be presented Tuesday, March 9th from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Students
in the Intermediate Word class will review the fundamentals of Word
as well as learn about templates, formatting, and working with
graphics in a Word document.
The “Beginning Internet” class will be presented
Thursday, March 11th from 1:00 to 2:30 pm and is perfect for those
who are just learning about the Internet. Students will learn the
buttons and pull-down menus of Microsoft Internet Explorer, as well
as using their newly learned skills to navigate on the OPLIN
homepage, the OPLIN databases, and T-SPL’s Website.
Intermediate Excel. On
Tuesday, March 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, “Intermediate Excel”
will be taught. Students in the class will review the
fundamentals of Excel, work with formulas and become familiar with
sort and organizing data. It is important that students have a basic
knowledge of Excel before taking this intermediate course.
“Searching the Internet”
will be taught Thursday, March 25 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.
To take this class, students are asked to have taken the Beginning
Internet class. Students will learn how to search the Internet, in
addition to learning about different types of search engines and
directories, and how to formulate good searches. Students must be
familiar with how to use a mouse.
E-Mail: On Tuesday, March 23rd
from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, another “E-Mail” class will be presented. The
class will show students the different sites that offer free e-mail
accounts and walk them through setting up an account. Students
should be familiar with the Internet and know how to use the mouse.

Public Library’s Let’s Talk About It: The Evening Book
Discussion Group for
adults will have book discussion Tuesday, March 23 at 6:30
pm in the Junior Home Room. The book, Welcome to the
World, Baby Girl by Fannie Flagg will be discussed.
Welcome to the World, Baby Girl! by
Fannie Flagg, author of the beloved Fried Green Tomatoes
at the Whistle Stop Cafe (and prize-winning
co-writer of the classic movie,) is about a brainy,
beautiful, and ambitious rising star of 1970s television,
Dena Nordstrom. Her future is full of promise, her present
rich with complications, and her past marked by mystery.
After returning to her small hometown of Elmwood Springs,
she learns life-changing information about her family,
changing her way of thinking forever. The ending will
astonish readers, involving a twist that will not be
forgotten. Multiple copies of the book are now
available at the Check-out Desk. All are invited to join the
